Escalante City is a remote and historical town located just outside the Escalante Petrified Forest State Park. It is surrounded by beautiful, unoccupied land bring a wild west charm to the area. This small city is a convenient home base for exploring the many outdoor activities nearby. Wide Hollow Reservoir offers hiking, boating, fishing, and canoeing. Residents and visitors can enjoy the beauty of the surroundings while taking a drive on Utah’s Scenic Byway 12, or finding themselves at one of the surrounding National Parks.
Escalante is named for the layers of multicolored plateaus surrounding this small city, bringing a unique beauty to the area. Access to calcified fossils, wood and dinosaur bones make Escalante City a geographical treasure for visitors to explore and discover.
